A Bit of Backwards Masking History:

The Beatle’s George Martin was the original creator of backwards masking. Songs like “Rain”, “Tomorrow Never Knows” and “I’m Only Sleeping” all released in the spring of 1966, were the worlds first exposure to the technique. Many more Beatles songs followed, each getting better, to the point where backwards masking became a legitimate sound in recorded music as if it were a played instrument.

Another master of the technique, Frank Zappa, began mixing in the technique with his unique brand of music parody. As more and more bands began to use the technique, Jefferson Starship, ELO, Black Oak Arkansas and The Cars for example, some found that obvious subliminal messages could be worked into the music.

Then came Led Zeppelin’s “Stairway To Heaven”, the king of all time for accused satanic backwards masking. People still argue today if in fact the song is like it says: 'cause you know sometimes words have two meanings’. Arguments over this song have persisted.

Neverland Ballroom

Neverland, you pay your money
They stamp your hand, Paradise
Dance on thin ice

Soul to soul, won't see the sun again
Once they dance the Neverland Ballroom
Hearts on fire, don't see the flames begin
Down at the Neverland Ballroom

Abaton, something Shining, something wrong
Shangri-La, mirage, she's gone

Dust to dust, never seen alive again
Once they dance the Neverland Ballroom
Blind desire, the sleep walk never ends
Down at the Neverland Ballroom

Neverland, Neverland
They've got surprises! They've got plans!
Down at the Neverland, down at the Neverland Ballroom

Paradise, Paradise
Dancing cheek to cheek, and cold as ice
Down at the Neverland, down at the Neverland Ballroom

Soul to soul, won't see the sun again
Once they dance the Neverland Ballroom
Hearts on fire, don't see the flames begin
Down at the Neverland Ballroom
Neverland, Neverland
Neverland, Neverland
Won't see the sun again
Once they dance the Neverland Ballroom
