Song of Innocence How can you sing about guilt without mentioning innocence? This one popped into my head, after listening to Guilty many times over Jim and I thought this would be a nice contrast, and its such a sweet, beautiful song. Simplicity was the key here just voices and guitar, with few effects. I liked how beautiful the harmonies were in this song, and we played them up a little more. The One whos meek and mild, youll find is always near. Aint it the truth??
..
Notes:
Key of D here. I first thought to try to do the entire song in harmonics- couldnt get the variety I desired. What I did use was initially to be laced in with the picking, but -it didnt fit well, so the song opens and closes with them. Wogster and I had some nice ad lib for the fade, but it seemed too muddy-so I opted for the best line when a child asks us to sing-especially about Jesus. .there is no greater honor.
We both offer slight apologies to Terry and Randy, their rendition is hard to top.

A child floating down on a cloud in the sky
Said "Sing me a song 'bout a lamb"
So I sang and he smiled, so I sang again
As he placed a reed in my hand
And with my rural pen I stained the water clear
And wrote this song for every little child to hear
A song of innocence
A song of goodness & light
A song of innocence
A song of goodness & light
Said the child hovering there on his cloud in the sky
"Please sing me the song once again"
And when it was over, he vanished from sight
These are the words sung to him
The One who's meek and mild
you'll find is always near
And I will sing this song
for every child to hear
A song of innocence
(Little lamb, who made thee?)
A song of goodness & light
(Little lamb, I'll tell you)
A song of innocence
(He is called by thy name)
A song of goodness & light
(He became a child, too)
A child floating down on a cloud in the sky
Said "Sing me a song 'bout a lamb"
A song of innocence
A song of goodness & light
A song of innocence
A song of goodness & light
A song of innocence
