Ribbons and Bows interpreted by JiMInY

Ribbons and bows-tech talk-

I did the song  in the key of E. (different from the original) using a Fruity Loops rhythm base track- goldwave wav editor, recorded and mixed with cool Pro edit 2.0

Other than the Fruity Loops track-and closing harp notes (where I added flange affects) All the flat top guitar, harmonica  and vocal were just captured straight from my pc mike. (Less is more? ) It shows up in the phony echo on the vocals, all of  which  ended up  as flat as Terry’s are strained on the original- so it has that “just a lil bit off” quality we all love.

I wanted to center the tune with the harmonica as the reoccurring hook- to make it a bit less noisy than DAs version.  I know I could not have tackled it the way they do it , and the opening “ascending triad” in harmonica is for all my Trinitarian Friends. (That Holy Ghost really squeaks, being the Jr.  member of the team, Ok – enough heresy)   Don’t know what I was thinking with the walk down at the end..its certainly not part of the original tune at all- just a drawn out fade-and a chance to try my hand at a “Layla” type ending-sans piano. (TRY being the opportune word….)

All in all its not as loud as the tie you may get from your nephew,- just another “Christmas gift” all wrapped up in ribbons and bows.

I hope I kept the integral theme of the song- which speaks loudly of the “unsearchable riches of Christ”, delivered this time by the least of His minstrels. (Eph 3:8)

If there is a third  fan tribute- lets call it “the Trinity Strikes Back”

SPECIAL thanks to THE MAN- BD, who helps us release these crazzeee impulses that bump around in our heads, and turn them into…well……………turn them into little plastic discs, I guess.

Peace and the BIG LOVE to you all-

Love is a question mark
Life's in a shadow box
God hides himself sometimes
Inside a paradox

And there may not ever be
Anything new here to say
But I'm fond of finding words
That say it in a different way

Chorus:
Does everybody want it nicely
Lined up in little neat rows?
Does anybody know precisely
Just where the wild wind blows?
I can hand it to you brightly
Wrapped up in ribbons and bows

We could dance the same old dances
Learn all the same old ropes
Roll out the same safe songs
Tell all our tired jokes

We've got some walls to climb
We've got some gates to crash
We've got a fire to light
Burn down the pious trash

Chorus

Repeat 1st verse
