When we started jamming on this song, we weren't sure what we were
going to do to keep it interesting. Rhythmically, it is a fairly
straightforward song. Not to say that Daniel Amos didn't keep it
interesting, because they did, what with all the pitch bending vocals
and intermingling instruments.

Subsequently, we brainstormed on what we could do as a band. We turned
our attention to varying up the rhythms and dynamics a little. The
initial result of our jamming was country and lounge renditions of the
song which shall never be spoken of again. Soon enough we started
taking different elements from our jamming and incorporated them into
the song.  This primarily served the job of keeping the rhythm section
happy (especially Adam). When we were finally through, we were pretty
thrilled with the various changes, riffs, and breaks we had polished.

The thing is, the more you change and add to a song, the more you have
to remember what you're doing at the execution stage. There were very
few times we actually nailed it during practice sessions, though we
attempted to get it all right on the recording ñ which, all things
considered, we accomplished well. Thus all the jokes about being stuck
in the studio for three weeks without food, and tallying up on the
3567th take.

In the end, we simply cannot do what DA did vocally (or even
musically). They pull this one off effortlessly with multiple pitch
bends and challenging intervals in the key of F. Given, none of us in
the band are vocalists, but we sang in "E" for Effort.

God bless!

Child, I'm on the line
With your twilight love
It's only twilight love
Child, make up your mind
Don't want your twilight love
And take your twilight love

Turn it on
Turn it off
Baby, Baby
Just don't give just a little
Get to be black or white
But you stay right in the middle

So where do you stand
It's only twilight love
Don't want your twilight love
I've taken all I can
Don't want your twilight love
And take your twilight love

Hot or cold
Day or night
Baby, baby
Don't leave me standing in the shadows
Get to be wrong or right
Or shed some light from your window

Turn it on
Turn it off
Baby, Baby
Just don't give just a little
Get to be black or white
But you stay right in the middle

Child, I'm on the line
With your twilight love
It's only twilight love
Don't want your twilight love
And take your twilight love
Don't want your twilight love
And take your twilight love
Don't want your twilight love
