Generally referred to as "the easy one" amongst the band, I've got an Idea
probably took longer to do than Twilight Love did. This is mainly due to
the multiple keyboard and guitar overdubs executed by both Adam and David. To
some extent we worked towards maintaining the original feel of the song,
meanwhile inserting our own "ideas" here and there just for good measure. This
resulted in pushing the limits of our 8-track recording equipment.
The recording of this track has been a long time in coming. From the moment
David saw the music video on the Spittle & Phlegm DVD, and heard I've got an
Idea for the first time, he knew that he wanted to record it for MNF.
Fortunately, he found a crew that was willing to help him out.
In addition to playing drums and a keyboard part, Adam makes his triumphant
return as backing vocalist at the very end of the track neither due to David's
inability or laziness to start what he had finished. Mike provides his talent as
a bass player, joining the band and getting exposed to DA and the Eddies in the
process.
In the end, our attitude is of humility and admiration. The Eddies did an
excellent job on the original recording and we cannot hope to excel, let alone
match it. Once again we are floored by the sheer talent they possess.
