Rebecca Go Home, what can I say about this song. Sung by the best vocalist the Dogs ever had, Gene Eugene. It was very important to me to record a song done by Gene; he was more than an artist. I remember riding in the car with my older brother; Pete and he would be playing Alarma, Shotgun Angel and Vox Humana. I grew up with Daniel Amos; I owe my brother thanks for introducing me to Daniel Amos. As time went by, I started buying my own music, more DA some Rez Band and my first 77’s CD, Eighty-Eight. I remember looking through the racks of CD’s at the Christian bookstore, and you had to look hard, because our type of music is hard to find. And nestled in between Carman, Sandi Patti, Amy Grant and The Winans was Adam Again’s Homeboys. The title peaked my interest right away, so I bought it. I went home opened it up, popped it in, my jaw dropped to the floor! I fell in love with “Hide Away” immediately, and the rest of the CD was just as good. I had to find out more about these guys.
I found out they were doing a concert in a nearby town so Pete and I headed out to see them. The opening act that night was Dig Hay Zoose, whose CD StruggleFish I also had. To our dismay, Adam Again did not play that night because one of the band members fell ill and could not make the flight from Cali. So, I never got to see Gene live, but one day I will when we see each other in God’s great Paradise. Everything he did after Homeboys was phenomenal, and when he put together the Dogs, I was once again floored. And his contribution to The Swirling Eddies cannot go unnoticed. All of his engineering credits are also amazing, to this day in my opinion, Gift Horse is the best Dogs album ever. I know this tribute is for Daniel Amos, but I think we all agree. Gene was a part of Daniel Amos, maybe not on the cover but sure enough behind that magic board of his.

Rebecca, Go Home
Though you may be scared
Just close your eyes and let go
I'm not far behind you
Soon I'll meet you where the river of life ever flows
Yes, the Lord's been good to us
But now you're lyin' here
And I just found the right words
Can you hear them through my tears?
Rebecca, Go Home
I know you're tired
God knows I wish that you could stay
You've fought the good fight
You've been through the fire
Let every sweet memory light your way
Down to the little church
Our son has gone to pray
And now that we're alone sweetheart
I feel that I can say...
Rebecca, Go Home
Oh, Rebecca, go home
Like when you were a child
Your daddy would call out your name
And you'd run through the dark fields
To the light of his smile
My guess is that heaven is much the same
So don't you worry, I'll be alright
Sweet Rebecca my love
Goodnight
Rebecca Go Home
Oh Rebecca, my love...
Goodnight
