Recorded using a Bach Stradivarius
Model 37, medium
bore trumpet and a 5-channel mixing box in our church's old sanctuary
(affectionately referred to as the "Green Room" because of the green
carpet - the same room where the Dogs played last November). Why "The Shape
of Air"? It's really a personal favorite of mine. I bought a used cassette
copy of _Darn Floor, Big Bite_, when I was in seminary and commuting 400
miles (round-trip) to a weekend pastorate every week. I didn't feel that I
was doing what I needed to be doing, however, my family was adamant that I
HAD to have a pastorate while I was in seminary. I was SUPPOSED to be a
pastor (NOT a youth minister, to which I had started feel feel leanings
towards - youth ministry was for the also-rans who couldn't cut it in real
ministry). Anyway, I was greatly frustrated by the whole thing. My family
seemed so sure and I was so confused, and, yes, I felt like a spiritual
loser because I couldn't seem to get a clear direction at the time. I
remember listening to DFBB when "The Shape of Air finally hit me in the
face. It was OK to still be searching. It was OK not to have all the answers
at the moment. I knew God had called me, but the exact nature/direction of
that calling was shaped like air. I could let God show me in his time. This
song became a great encouragement to me and helped me in my search (the
whole DFBB album is great for that. God really used Terry and the guys to
minister to me on that one.
