Cry Baby - Ken Clinger

I built it on a mellotron sample (an early tape-based sampling instrument from the 1960s). It's a strings & guitar sample. Mellotrons have a kind of "whoozy lo-fi tape" sound to them (a sound I like), so it's in the recording, not the mp3-coding.

I couldn't figure out how to use "Within the" without disturbing the mood of the song (since "the" didn't modify anything), so I just sang it as "Within". I also changed "your silence sung" to "your silent song", because "silence sung" sounded like "silent sung" when I sang it, which also would have been distracting.

Because of the chords I used for the "You could listen to the song on the radio" are a kind of "chain of chords" of 3 lines, I had to sing it as 3 lines each time the phrase appeared, even if you only had it once.

Anyway, hope you like.

Lyrics

Cry Baby

from the album "Green Room Serenade, Part One"

(Gene Eugene)

And then I saw you
Your were so beautiful
I think you whispered
Within the

You could listen to the song on the radio
You could listen to the song on the radio
I'll bet you never hear the song on the radio

Cry baby Cry
Don't you wonder why
You've stood so long
Your silence sung
Cry baby Cry

I had a dream too
It was so beautiful
And everything true
Within the

You could listen to the song on the radio. . .
I'll bet you never hear the song on the radio
Cry baby Cry
Don't you wonder why
Your flesh is worn
Your body torn
Cry baby cry

I bet you never hear the song on the radio. . .
Cry baby cry
Don't you wonder why
You've stood so long
Your silence sung
Cry baby cry
Your flesh is worn
Your body torn
It's almost gone
The words will come
Your way is clear
To beg for tears
Cry baby cry
Cry baby.
